Swedish Mauser M1896 Bayonet, 2nd Life Grenadier Regiment
This bayonet was made for the 6.5mm M1896 Swedish Mauser rifle, and also fits the M1938 short rifle and AG42b Ljungmann self-loading rifle.
This example is marked on the blade and hilt with matching serial numbers ‘241’ as well as ‘EJAB’ with a crown & anchor, indicating that the bayonet was manufactured by Eskilstuna Jernmanufakuraktiebolag AB (Eskilstuna Iron Manufacturing, Inc.). The scabbard throat is marked ‘E.A.B.’, indicating that it was manufactured by the firm Erik Anton Berg, also in Eskilstuna. The ricasso of the blade and chape finial of the scabbard are stamped with a crown inspection mark.
The markings to the hilt identify this as belonging with rifle number 21 of the 5th company of the 5th infantry regiment (2nd Life Grenadier Regiment).
